Dr. Michael Reinhart was born in Washington D.C. in 1953. He lived there with his family until going off to college at the University of Miami in 1975. There he worked as an Associate Researcher in Pulmonary Medical Research at Mount Sinai Medical Center from 1976-1978 under Dr. Marvin Sackner MD. His professional school was completed at the University Of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine where he earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. From there, he became an Associate at the Bayshore Animal Hospital in Bradenton, Fl. for four years before opening Jacaranda Animal Hospital in 1986. Dr. Reinhart is the recipient of the Hartz 2006 Veterinarian of the Year Award and writes a column for Sarasota Pet Magazine. Dr. Reinhart and his son, Graham, currently live in Sarasota.

Practice Manager
Monica Leighton joined the staff in February of 1999. She handles all the management as well as public relations and events for our office. Monica is the owner of Professional Pet Sitting, Pet Tip of the Week Expert for the Doggy Diva Radio Show, Canine and Feline Nutritional Consultant and President of the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters. Monica has written columns and articles for the Venice Gondolier, Pet Pages, NAPPS Network and Sarasota Pet Magazine. Monica was the first known pet sitter to develop a Disaster Preparedness Program for her clients and has given seminars across the United States training pet sitters in disaster preparedness. Monica has a beautiful little girl, Hailey, 2 dogs, Baby & Daisy, and 2 cats, Socks & Lilly and lives in Venice, Fl.

Receptionist
Jackie is the receptionist here at Jacaranda Animal Hospital. She is right there to greet all our furry friends and their parents and help to assist you with all of your needs. Her love for furry four-legged friends has only increased during her time in our practice. She lives in Venice with her husband, John, her son, Justin, daughter, Victoria, their families white Labrador Retriever, Rascal, their Chorky (Chihuaha and Yorkie mix), Charlie and their tiger striped kitty, Kitty, which Jackie's husband rescued from a job site.

Veterinary Assistant
Jackie Brennan is our office Veterinary Assistant and Dr. Reinhart's right-hand person performing a myriad of tasks throughout the day. Jackie assists Dr. Reinhart in all procedures, including surgery, performing Dental Scalings, takes and develops radiographs, runs blood tests and provides nursing care to all hospitalized patients as well as caring for the pets in our kennel. Jackie has lived in Florida for the past 3 years and she loves to rollerblade with her 2 dogs, Milo and Patron.

Clients often ask us "Who takes care our our furry friends while your office is closed?". The answer is Tommy and Jenelle, our outstanding kennel staff. Thomas and Jenelle Pullin have been animal lovers forever. Tom is a master watch maker, who restores antique watches and collects books on horology. He enjoys their garden, and has owned dogs, donkeys, a stud horse and Patagonian Conure parrots in the past. Jenelle also loves Florida gardening, has a BS in Agriculture from Ohio State University, and was raised on a farm with chickens, pigs, sheep, beef cattle, dairy cattle and quarter horses as well as dogs and cats. The Pullins' currently have a pond of goldfish and are servants to 2 cats and 3 Jack Russell Terriers, who demand daily trips to the Woodmere Dog Park. They enjoy meeting and caring for the dogs and cats who stay in our kennels.
